Animal Care

The aim of the Animal Care curriculum is to provide the students with a range of experiences relating to a domestic animal. Students will learn about the ‘Five freedoms’, other relevant legislation and then be able to apply this to practical experiences. Within this curriculum, students will develop the ability to value the needs of others and compare their needs to that of a domestic animal. Students will be given the opportunity to experience domestic animals, develop confidence when working with them and provide them with the correct food, water and equipment. Pupils’ independence will be promoted at all times, expanding on their skills and knowledge throughout.
