Community

Community lessons are split into two strands. Community sessions as a form group and carousel sessions. All students within Explore are able to access this provision and will take part in appropriate sessions. 
 
Community lessons allow for learners to build up their confidence within the local area. Learners are encouraged to become familiar with a range of appropriate activities on offer locally, which they could participate on as they move into adulthood. Students will visit local places and services to gain awareness of what is motivating for them. Students learn how to be safe in the community, they develop the skills to show appropriate levels of road safety and will use transport with more confidence. Students will build relationships and confidence when socialising appropriately in public. 
 
Carousel lessons include voluntary/ work experience placements. Currently, students will spend time in the college gym provision, they will work in a café and help to make the lunches in hospitality for the student cohort.
