Assembly
At Elms Bank, we believe that assemblies are fundamental in promoting the ethos of the school. They provide students and staff with opportunities to come together for collective reflection, the consideration of spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) issues, the promotion of fundamental British Values and our five steps to well-being.
These occasions are seen as special times where students can feel secure and relaxed and come together as a community. They are key opportunities to celebrate success and achievement. Assemblies are delivered every Friday by teacher/class.
Student involvement in assemblies is actively encouraged and whenever possible they are given the chance to respond through a variety of activities, singing, signing, music making, drama, role-play, the visual arts, silent thought/reflection and discussion. Many of our assemblies include drama and creative arts presentations, musical performances and links to curriculum themes. Some assemblies will incorporate national days, celebrations and religious festivals (see Assembly Coverage document). In school there is much to celebrate, praise and say thank you for, so we place these as high priorities.
